Mission: Make energy “cool” again. The work of the Task Force dates as far back as the 70s, when the original Energy Task Force installed NYC’s first distributed energy system. With that in mind, we created an identity that reflects the groups’ DIY roots with visuals harkening back to the aesthetic of show posters and protest signage. I commissioned artist Bill Rebholz, whose work has an organic messy feel, to rethink the logo with the lightning bolt at its core. The lightning bolt logo showcases the sustainable background, while the handwritten style emphasizes their punk nature. We reimagined black and white imagery with pops of early-internet blue.
